12/2 we are so almost there

Ok, so today I wanted you guys to practice some timed writing, especially keeping in mind the importance of outlines when you are trying to write quickly.  Katiuska and I discussed in one of the little groups how sometimes it is easier to just start writing and then organize the mess once you’ve gotten something written down.  I agree that various strategies can be helpful.  What I really want for each of you is to be familiar with what works best for you, especially when you are under pressure (as in an exam situation).  If outlining first helps, practice doing it with any random topic.  If writing first and then organizing later works better, be prepared to have to rewrite the essay on a clean slate within the two hours.  Make sense?

Tomorrow we will be discussing the Britney article.  Please make sure you read it.  In fact, if you can, bring a copy of it.  You will want a copy of both articles, as you will be able to use them for reference during the final exam.
